Where to Find the Best Street Art in Nashville

Picture
Finding great street art is one of my favorite things about traveling and a great way to discover more about the culture in a new destination. It's also a fun way to explore a city without having to spend a dime! And trust me Nashville has no shortage of murals. You're likely to find a new insta-worthy destination around every corner. In fact, depending on how long you're visiting, you'll likely need to choose a few must sees to ensure you make the most of your time.

There isn't just one location for street art and instead they're spread out throughout the entire city. This can make for a fun adventure if you have a car and lots of time. If not, I recommend visiting a few more popular areas such as 12 South or the Gulch which offer multiple murals within walking distance so you can get the most bang for your buck. There are also guided tours available which will take you around to different stops and share more background about the artists themselves. However, this doesn't give you a chance to explore some of the neighborhoods while you're visiting which I highly recommend.

Below I share some of my favorite stops on our recent weekend getaway as well as a few others which we didn't have a chance to see but will definitely be on my list for next time:

I Believe in Nashville
2702 12th Ave. South

You can find a few of these murals throughout the city but this one is my personal favorite and the easiest to get a photo with as it’s located in an alley so you don’t have to worry about traffic. It can be found in the iconic 12 South neighborhood which has a number of murals all within walking distance.

NoBaked Wings
1200 Villa Pl Unit 113

There are multiple NoBaked locations throughout the city but this one happens to be near 12 South if you’re already mural hunting in that area. In addition to edible cookie dough, you’ll also find a pair of pink butterfly wings and a greenery wall with a neon “don’t mind if I dough” sign

City Winery
609 Lafayette St

Grab a drink and head out to the outdoor patio. While you're there snap a picture with this fun wine bottle abstract wall or while standing on the winding staircase lined from floor to ceiling with wine bottles.

Colorful Stairs
405 12th Avenue South

These adorable stairs are located in Grace’s Alley on the side of Urban Outfitters (address above). The alley also has a few seating areas, string lights, and variety of plants.

Love Y’all
2028a Lindell Avenue

This one is a bit off the beaten path but definitely worth the stop. Can be found on the side of Pencil and Paper which is a trendy design studio.
Picture
Draper James
2608 12th Ave South

The iconic blue and white wall is located directly across from the the I Believe in Nashville wall. You can also snap a shot on the adorable white bench with the Draper James sign in the background.

Lookin' Pretty Music City
2709 12 Avenue South

Located on the side of Madewell in 12 South. This is a relatively new installment but one of my personal favs. It also takes up the entire wall of the building so you can get a few different shots.
Picture
Flower Wall
2900 12th Avenue South

Located on the side of Green Pea Salon this one can't be missed. It's also in the same alley as the Make Music Not War mural. Also be sure to make a pit stop at White's Mercantile for some great shopping.
Picture
Five Daughter's Bakery
1110 Caruthers Avenue

No shortage of insta-worthy shots here. The iconic donuts mural on the side wall is great for those pastry selfies. They also have a small courtyard with donut painting on the fence you can stick your head through.

Nashville Looks Good on You
2509 12th Avenue South

You can find this sassy mural located in the lot directly behind Frothy Monkey and grab a coffee to go as you continue your mural hunt.

Kittenish - Nashville Stole My Heart
304 11th Avenue South

Jessie James Decker's Kittenish store had the cutest all-pink everything vibe, was rocking 90s pop and is home to the adorable Nashville Stole My Heart balloon mural.
Picture
What Lifts You
302 11th Avenue South

Kelsey Montague is an international artist famous for her #WhatLiftsYou murals. The Gulch is home to one of the largest (and maybe the smallest) wings which stand at 20 feet high and took over 60 paint pens to complete.
Picture
Uncommon James
601 9th Avenue South

Kristin Cavallari's jewelry and lifestyle brand is a new addition to the Gulch and features both the devil/angel wall mural as well as the Uncommon James signature couch.

It's Gonna Be Okay
3200 Charlotte Avenue

This is a fairly new mural which was created as part of a larger installation that lines the entire block. If you're not a fan of this one there are plenty more options to choose all on the same sidewalk. Also directly across the street you'll find an avocado wall.

Baked on 8th - Life is Sweet
1512 8th Avenue South

The cutest bakery located just outside the Gulch. Not only does this colorful mural cover the white brick on the side of the building, the inside has a neon "Baked in Nashville" sign which makes the perfect photo op for your homemade pop tart.
Picture
Winky Lux
604 12th Avenue South

This luxury cosmetics store offers customers a true experience with colorful photo stations that allow you the opportunity to try out your products and snap some cute pics with your gals!
Picture
Jason Woodside Mural
299 11th Avenue South

You can't miss this one! Bright, colorful abstract mural located near the parking garage across the street from Milk and Honey.
Picture
Biscuit Love - Nashville Lights
316 11th Avenue South

Home to the fluffiest homemade biscuits I've ever had and the iconic Nashville lighted sign. You'll also hear people rave about their famous "bonuts" which are biscuit fried donuts tossed in sugar and topped with lemon mascarpone.
So many murals, so little time. Even I wasn't able to see all the street art I wanted during our long weekend. Here are a few other Nashville murals that are still on my bucket list:
  • What Lifts You Hot Air Balloon - 1034 W. Eastland Avenue
  • Drippy Lips - 1814 21st Avenue
  • Kindness is ____ - 1120 Forth Avenue North
  • Wish for Peace - 4822 Charlotte Ave
  • Sunflower Wall - 3636 Murphy Road
  • Pink and White Wall - 714 Gallatin Avenue

Thanks for writing this great article. I’ve been using some of these techniques on by blog. But I didn’t know the phrase “Social Proof”. Thanks for sharing.
