If you’re looking for a cozy fall getaway in Michigan where you can relax and unwind while enjoying all the amenities of a low-key luxury destination I have the perfect trip for you. New Buffalo, Michigan, located in the Southwest corner of the state, is a bustling beach town in the summer (and for good reason it’s stunning) but in the fall it slows down a bit and offers the opportunity for visitors to enjoy this little slice of paradise at their own pace. We recently enjoyed a staycation getaway at The Harbor Grand Hotel and it was a truly unforgettable experience. From warm hospitality, stunning waterfront views, 5-star dining and luxurious spa treatments it was the perfect place to relax and soak in the beauty of our little slice of paradise along Lake Michigan. If you haven't experienced fall in Northern Michigan, what are you waiting for?! This truly is one of the most magical times of the year when the air is crisp, the colors begin to pop, and the summer crowds begin to fade away. We hopped in the car and drove four hours north to The Homestead Resort in Glen Arbor at the end of October which was perfectly timed for peak leaf peeping. From multiple dining options, secluded beach access, and 500 acres to explore, The Homestead has something to offer in all four seasons in the heart of Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore.

There is nothing more refreshing for the soul than a girl's weekend away with some of your best friends. When we started talking about this trip, we knew we wanted to explore Northern Michigan but since there is so much to see and do it can be hard to decide on where to stay. When you're traveling with a larger group (we had 7 girls) it can also be difficult to find lodging that meets all your needs and can comfortably fit everyone. Thankfully we discovered Crooked Tree Farm Farmhouse in Bellaire, Michigan!

There is nothing quite like summertime in Northern Michigan. And there's no better place to explore all that this region has to offer than the centrally-located Hotel Walloon which sits nestled along the shores Walloon Lake. This privately owned boutique hotel features spacious guest rooms, elegant design, rich history, and world-class service. In addition to the charming Walloon Village, you're also just a short drive away from Petoskey, Boyne City, Harbor Springs, Mackinaw Island, and Traverse City.

While many people flock up north in the summer, there is so much to see and explore in the snowy season (and without the crowds!) Whether you're looking to hit the slopes, have a drink in a tent or igloo, or simply snuggle up in a cozy Airbnb for the weekend, you'll find it in Beulah, Michigan.
Over the past few years, "glamping" has made a name for itself in the outdoor adventure world. If you're not familiar with the term, it is a combination of the words "glamorous" and "camping" which is exactly what you'll find at The Fields of Michigan in South Haven. If you enjoyed camping as a child, or are looking to try something new, this luxury glamping site takes care of all the hard work and allows you to relax and rejuvenate in nature.
While you could easily spend all your time on site, The Fields is also located only three miles from Lake Michigan and close to downtown South Haven which offers endless opportunities to explore the area. â Disclaimer: We were hosted for a one night stay at The Fields of Michigan. Traverse City is one of my absolute favorites places to visit in Michigan (read my other posts here) and I couldn't wait to head back again this summer. My husband and in-laws plan a golf trip every year in Northern Michigan and we had been wanting to check Jack Nicklaus' iconic Bear course off our list for some time which is located at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. We spent two amazing days at the resort which has so much to offer in addition to award winning golf courses. Keep reading for everything there is to do and see here and why I think it's the perfect place to stay when visiting northern Michigan.

Labor Day weekend typically marks the unofficial end of summer, and my sister and I couldn't let the season pass without squeezing in one last girl's weekend getaway. We packed our bags and headed 4.5 hours south to French Lick, Indiana where we spent two nights at the beautiful French Lick Resort. It was my first time visiting and I had heard so many great things about the area, including the breathtaking history and architecture of the hotel itself. We were blessed with lots of sunshine and had two days packed full of adventure, with of course some time for a little pampering and relaxation.

There is something so charming about the small beach towns lining the Lake Michigan shoreline and St. Joseph, Michigan is no exception. No matter what season you visit, you can always find something to see and do. Whether you’re sipping local brews during the winter beer festival, shopping for fresh procure and local goods at the farmer’s market along the bluff, or enjoying a day in the sun on Silver Beach - there’s fun to be had for the whole family. When you start to plan your Southwest Michigan getaway, one of the most important aspects is deciding where to stay. My husband and I recently had an overnight getaway at The Boulevard Inn and Bistro and it was the perfect location for experiencing the most of what the city has to over. Located on the picturesque bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, the hotel offers guests a full-service, all-suite hotel and restaurant. The best part is, the hotel is located in the heart of downtown St. Joseph and within walking distance of the beach, shops, restaurants and other attractions. All you need for a perfect Southwest Michigan getaway is all right there. Keep reading to find out more of the best parts of our recent stay.
